RTSoft expands its support for ARM™ microprocessor family.

Moscow, Russia, April 2001 - RTSoft Inc., a leading provider of software development services, has announced that it will provide extended support for systems incorporating the StrongARM™ SA-1100/1110/1111 microprocessors from ARM Limited.

Facing growing market anticipation of ARM™ architecture, RTSoft Inc has added StrongARM™ processors support into its portfolio. Now customers willing to build their embedded solutions on popular SA-1100/1110/1111 processors can use RTSoft expertise to dramatically shorten development cycle. RTSoft offers extensive range of services including OS porting, custom firmware, drivers and applications tailored to customer specifications.

"ARM architecture is becoming increasingly popular for such applications like PDA's, cell phones, car navigation systems and many other high tech gadgets we see and use in everyday life. Excellent MIPS per watt ratio makes StrongARM™ processors de-facto choice in designs dealing with multimedia, voice and high speed data processing. Each step further requires more and more bandwidth combining with new wireless standards like Bluetooth™ and 3G mobile networks. We feel that StrongARM™ processors are ideally suited for such applications and estimate double-digit growth of ARM based designs in this area in next two-three years. We are ready now to help any client to get to market faster and stay ahead of the competition," said Alexander Kaliadin, business development manager at RTSoft.

RTSoft provides full supports for StrongARM™ reference boards like Intel's Assabet and Neponset boards including custom drivers for PCMCIA, CompactFlash, Serial, Video, Audio as well as support for any specific SA-1100/1110/1111 based boards. The Intel® SA-1110 is a highly integrated 32-bit Intel® StrongARM microprocessor integrating SA-1100 core with Memory and PCMCIA Control Module, 28 general-purpose interruptible I/O ports, real-time clock , Peripheral Control Module including six channel DMA controller, LCD controller, SDLC controller, 16550 compatible UART, IrDA serial port, synchronous serial port, USB end point interface, and codec interface in a small footprint 256-pin mBGA package. The Intel® SA-1111 companion chip provides a USB host controller, direct connection to audio codecs, buffering for one PCMCIA slot and one CF slot, and multiple additional I/O interfaces.

According to Kaliadin, "We are moving towards to providing our clients with totally integrated solutions helping them to concentrate solely on their vertical applications without spending any time on hardware-software integration. With ability to focus on the core technology right from the beginning, our customers can bring much more added value ensuring wider market success."
